How to get to Puerto Plata/Cofresi Beach

From abroad, the best way to get here is by flying into the Gregorio Luperón International Airport located west of Puerto Plata. This is the choice of entry for tourists headed to Cofresi, Maimón, Luperón, Puerto Plata, Playa Dorada, Sosua, Cabarete and Playa Grande

Santiago's Cibao International Airport, about an hour south, is second best. Scheduled airlines flying into Santiago are: JetBlue, Delta and American Airlines (New York), American (Miami), American Eagle (San Juan, Puerto Rico). Punta Cana Express (Takeoff Destination Service) offers scheduled domestic flights from POP to Punta Cana, Aerodomca serves Santo Domingo. Air Century offers chartered flights.

Getting Around Cofresi Beach and Puerto Plata

Even if you have a rental car, we urge you to take taxis at night, even if you are going somewhere that is in the vicinity of Cofresi.  The main road is poorly lit and many side roads have potholes and rough edges.  In addition, it is easy to get lost on these road when you are not familiar with the area.  So please take a taxi at night so that you can relax and enjoy your evening out.
